Alex Mayer

Member of Parliament for Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Leighton Buzzard and villages

Promoted by Phil Crooks on behalf of Alex Mayer at 32 Lochy Drive, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 2XY

Switch on Great British Energy

Local people are suffering from sky-rocketing energy bills – nearly doubling for the average family in recent years.

We’re dangerously dependent on importing oil and gas from unstable international markets.

That means we don’t control our own destiny.

We need to take control of our energy system.

The solution is clean, homegrown power that we can produce and control in the UK – that is the only way to cut energy bills once and for all and make us energy independent.

Get the NHS back on its feet

You know how hard it is to get a GP appointment or an NHS dentist.

A Labour government will:

  • Cut waiting times by giving the NHS the staff and technology it needs.
  • End the 8am scramble for GP appointments and giving patients a choice of appointments in person or on the phone.
  • Improve cancer survival rates, doubling the number of scanners.
  • Better mental health provision - including for autism where Alex is a proud Vice Patron of Autism Bedfordshire.
  • More care in the community so patients aren’t stuck in hospital.

Stand up for our high streets

Under the Conservatives, Britain’s high streets are on the decline.

With a Labour Government we will:

  • Tackle anti-social behaviour and shoplifting
  • Revamp empty shops, pubs and community spaces
  • Replace business rates with a new system that levels the playing field between our high streets and online giants

Making Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Houghton Regis and villages the best they can be

The cost-of-living crisis has hit our communities hard. There is also a shoplifting epidemic. It’s time to restore pride.

Alex has brought money to Bedfordshire for retrofitting and wants to enhance our beautiful countryside. She is passionate about animal welfare and organised the biggest petition in history against animal testing.

Alex will fight for more reliable and sustainable public transport with a Labour Government that invests in public services again.
